Youth Football Jamboree

Here is the schedule for the Jamboree. It will be held at UVA-Wise at Carl Smith Stadium. This should be a BLAST!!!

Crunch Bunch
9:00 AM Coeburn vs Clintwood
10:15 AM Appy vs Norton
11:30 AM Wise vs Pound

Division 1
12:45 PM Norton vs Wise
2:15 PM Appy vs Coeburn
3:45 PM Pound vs Clintwood

Division 2
5:15 PM Wise vs Clintwood
6:45 PM Coeburn vs Appy
8:15 PM Norton vs Pound

There are a couple things I need to pass on as well. There will be a $2 admission. There should be hand stamps for those that leave and plan on returning. All adults pay, even coaches. The coin toss has already been done as a time saving measure. The CB will play a 70 game, with 10 of it being half time (cheerleaders will perform). The clock only will stop for injuries. D1 and D2 will play seven minute quarters with 10 minute halftimes to allow the Cheerleaders their due time to perform.
Time between games will be little. There are nine games scheduled and we are going to try to stay on it. This should be a great memory for these kids.
On a side note, I will personally be announcing three of the games. But rest assure everyone, I will NOT be announcing any of the Wise or Appy games. I will be 100% unbiased during the three games and wish all the teams the very best of luck. I'm being serious, but I'm also trying to shed some light on the recent darkness, LOL. Let's all make this weekend about the kids and the kids only. See you at the games.

Re: Youth Football Jamboree

I was under the impression that the #1 seed and the #2 seed would play each other. Obviously in Division 2 that is Wise and Appalachia. Is it that the league decided not to pair them in light of recent events,or did Appy refuse to play our kids? Either way those 2 ended up 1-1,and it would have nice to have seen it settled in a rubber game. The sad thing is,if you asked the kids from Wise and Appy, they'd say "Let's play ball!". It is the "adults" who screw it up all of the time I hate that I'll have to miss this, but I hear now that there's more next week with Haysi,Grundy..etc? I hope so (can catch that). PLEASE invite Ervinton. After listening to my co-worker,you'd think he is sure that the Rebs would beat Dallas by 3 tds

Re: Youth Football Jamboree

There is no league title to claim, so the board decided to not have teams play a third time. As far as the tournament the following week, Ervington and Coeburn will be there. I'm trying to get a hold of Grundy. If they accept, we will have the tournament. If not, Ervington will be here on the 11th to play a series of games. Either way, our season is one week longer now!!!

Re: Youth Football Jamboree

Why don't the league ask Kenny Croweder to come and announce?

Re: Youth Football Jamboree

Kenny is being talked to as far as I know. But it is a tall order for one person to do nine games over a 12 hour period. Like I said, I'll not be doing any Wise or Appy games. There should be peace and harmony.

That has all the PA duties filled up. It's good to see all the volunteers coming out to help on the project.
